The visitors who did not enter ones name have the possibility to enter a demo-version of the navigabile s services. You can enter this very version opening "test navigabile" that you can find on the log-in page (to be found by opening "enter the version navigabile" from the homepage). Here you can experiment all services, even if it is not allowed to registrate and memorize the user s name and the chosen profile online.

The available services are:

1. support given to CAA

navigabile gives support to various languages of the CAA = communicazione alternative aumentativa (alternative increased communication); this happens by dictionaries containing simple but effective definitions that are associated with each symbol. Besides using them for the services, the symbols and imagines are used to help the understanding of the written text or the audio-contents. Today the languages CAA supported by navigabile are:

• PCS more than 1500 PCS are disposable corresponding to the principal concepts

• BLISS the 150 symbols "BLISS" corresponding to the principle concept are disposeable

• 5000 images navigabile
  

2. simplify structure and contents

A progressive level of simplification turns the site s contents to account depending on the registration profile of the user. The planed levels are:

• complete: editorial contents on the same complexity level as that one used normally in the informational websites, in the portals, institutional sites, etc

• synthetic: editorial contents simplified, with a high legibility index

• synthetic and simplified: contents extremely simplified, reduced to the main concepts of a sentence

3. audio support

The audio support service is given according to the registration profile of the user. The audio support is available for the vocal reading of all the contents of the site. The multimedia content is always supported by an equivalent text to respect the guide-lines WAI of accessibility. The reproduction of the multi-medial contents on the single computers depends on the technology not-web (e.g.: windows media players) and therefore the possibility to use it in every case can not be guaranteed. Because of that the WAI directives say that there must be an equivalent text. Most of the browsers will not have any problem. It is not possible to test all browsers existing, but it is possible that in some cases the audio will not be reproduced. This is the typical effect of installing the browser after Windows Media Player.
Anyway – if the audio is not reproduced, you should unload and (re)install Windows Media Player:

4. Navigation

The contents of the sito are presented in four areas in the homepage:

• Information Contains four notices, or curious or current, whereon it is applied the service "page filter", that makes it possible to visualize them in the three possible complexity levels foreseen by the site.

• ServicesContains all services navigabile put in the pilot-site:

1. table of communication- contains the user s table of communication to populate by the dictionary with the images navigabile correspondent to the symbols CAA on the user s cartoon table of communication.

2. Sentence composer- contains the complete function of sentence writing, both textual and symbolic by the images navigabile of the table of communication. Each sentence can be saved and sent by e-mail by a simplified process.

3. Forum- makes it possible to the user to upload a text-file put in the format of word, excel, PPT, PDF and txt and images in the format gif and jpg. It also permits to insert comments in each file uploaded and to read the comments left by other users.

4. Dictionary for categories- contains the principal 150 PCS and a selection of photo-images, a special selection for navigabile, that are organized according to the standard category of CAA use.

5. Alphabetic dictionary- contains the principal 150 PCS and a selection of photo-images, a special one for navigabile, that are organized in alphabetic order to offer an easier consulting for the operator helping the handicapped user with the surfing in internet.

• Education contains a course of history – "la cittadinanza" – presented in four sessions and realized in partnership with the teachers of the institute " Matilde di Canossa" from Reggio Emilia in order to offer their pupils the possibility to test navigabile.

• Profilecontains one page where the information of personalisation is recapitulated and makes it possible to approach the guided course chosen that was specially created for the demo-site.

5. Navigation

Beginning from the login-page you enter the registration process, where the new user can decide a username and a password in order to an own use of navigabile. The registration service contains also a function of password-saving, realized by the formality "personal questions", this very answer is saved in the moment of registration. This kind of organisation makes it possible for the user to restore his special password without any need of relying on an e-mail address.

Actual this service is not active, but the registration is possible at any time sending a mail-request to: segreteria@fondazioneaccenture.it.

6. Personalisation
The personalisation of the interface affects the index like pages e.g. the homepage (navigating) and the pages offering contents e.g. the notices put in the area information (filter on the text), but not the area services: that means that within the demo site both the index-services and all its services contained are not altered by the personalisation.

The personalisation happens by a guided course of four steps: during the first one you have to choose the complexity of the text, in the second one the presence of the images CAA, in the third one the presence of the audio-help and in the fourth one the size of characters used for the contents. Approaching the profile page you can always run this steps another time and change your choice.
